WhatsApp’s developer continues to work diligently on useful features. Now they want to improve your conversations in the popular instant messenger with a function that should be immediately noticeable to users.
Most users’ primary use of WhatsApp is for personal conversations. Whether it’s with groups of friends or private chats with your partner, it simply works. However, conversations often happen in other forms apart from pure text. Sometimes, calls are quicker and less complicated than ploughing through large blocks of text. This is why the instant messenger has offered a call function for some time now. However, Android users have been left behind in terms of quality so far. The developer, Meta, now wants to improve this.
WhatsApp Wants to Improve Telephony With This Feature
In the current preview version of WhatsApp for Android, WABetaInfo discovered a small but subtle improvement for the popular phone feature. The developer is apparently testing the possibility of offering noise cancellation directly in the app. This means annoying background noises are detected and automatically reduced in real time. While noise such as wind or cars in the background are reduced, your own voice is isolated and emphasized. The other person will theoretically be able to hear you much clearer with this feature.
According to the report, the function will be activated by default in both voice and video calls on Android. Whenever you begin a call, it will activate automatically. However, WhatsApp will also notify you. As you can see in the screenshot, you can configure the feature in the settings during a call.

iPhone users have been able to activate Voice Isolation for some time now. It is a standard feature of iOS and can also be used with third-party apps such as WhatsApp.
The function has no effect on end-to-end encryption in WhatsApp. Noise detection takes place locally on your smartphone. This means your conversations remain encrypted.
The feature is currently still in the development phase. However, WABetaInfo claimed it will be released in the future. WhatsApp’s developer is currently working on how the app recognizes and filters disturbing noises.
