Apple might fix watchOS 10.1 battery drain issue in the next update
Apple finally seems to be working on a fix for the battery drain issue affecting several smartwatch models. Ever since the tech giant released the watchOS 10.1 in October, Apple Watch users who updated their smartwatches to the latest version have been complaining about their smartwatches dying in just a few hours.
According to MacRumors, the tech giant shared an internal memo with Apple Authorised Service Providers saying that a fix for the watchOS 10.1 battery drain issue is “coming soon.” The report goes on the say that Apple is still unable to understand what is causing the battery drain in a few hours, how many people are affected by the problem and which models are experiencing the issue.
In the last few days, many Apple Watch owners from Watch Series 5 to Ultra 2 have complained on Apple Support Community, Reddit, and X (formerly Twitter) that their smartwatch is draining battery constantly even when they are not actively using them. Some say their smartwatch goes from 100 to 0 in a few hours, making them almost unusable.
While Apple works on the upcoming update that contains the fix, users have shared some potential solutions on X and Reddit. To fix the watchOS 10.1 battery drain issue, try removing third-party widgets from the home screen’s widget stack or uninstalling the MobyFace watch face app. If you are on the beta channel, you might want to update your Apple Watch to watchOS 10.2 as it reportedly fixes the battery drain issue for some.
