Apple might be working on a new HomePod with display, Apple Intelligence features | Technology News

October 22, 2025

Apple is reportedly working on a new device that might turn out to be the HomePod with a screen we all have been waiting for. Speculations also suggest that the upcoming device will offer Apple Intelligence features.

According to a recent report by MacRumors, a piece of code on Apple’s backend references a device with the identifier ‘HomeAccessory17,1’, which is similar to the name identifier of HomePod’s ‘AudioAccessory’.

The report also claims that this might be the go-to Apple device for all smart home solutions and act as a central hub for home automation. The suffix ‘17,1’ hints that the upcoming device will most likely be powered by the A18 chip, which will make its debut on the soon-to-be-announced iPhone 16 series. If true, it might mean that the new product will also support Apple Intelligence features and run on a modified version of tvOS, which may be called homeOS.

The code also hints that the Cupertino-based tech giant is currently working on two new unreleased Apple TV models with the identifiers ‘AppleTV14,4’ and ‘AppleTV14,5’, which may be launched sometime later this year. But since nothing is official at the moment, we advise you to take this information with a huge grain of salt since things may change down the line and Apple might entirely ditch the upcoming product.

In October last year, an X user Kosutami, who is known for collecting Apple prototype devices shared a picture of what might be the new HomePod with a screen. The device, which carries the codename “B270” has a coloured LCD screen on the top.
