Samsung’s upcoming XR headset leaks reveals hardware specs: What we know so far | Technology News

October 22, 2025

Samsung recently confirmed that the company was indeed working on a new extended reality (XR) headset that might take on the Apple Vision Pro. Developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, the company’s mobile division president TM Roh said that the headset “is coming later this year”.

While Google, Qualcomm and Samsung haven’t shared any details about the soon-to-be launched Apple Vision Pro competitor, a recent Geekbench listing reveals key specifications of the headset.

First spotted by 91mobiles, the Geekbench listing suggests the headset, codenamed SM-I130, will pack a hexa-core processor with a base clock speed of 2.36GHz. This means the upcoming headset will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, which the company launched earlier this year. The device might run on a modified version of Android 14 modified for XR experience and come with 16GB RAM.

Earlier this year, a patent by Samsung hinted that its upcoming XR headset will support Apple Vision Pro-like digital avatars and work with other Samsung products like headphones and smartwatches.

While there isn’t much information about other specifications of the device, rumour has it that Samsung’s maiden XR headset will have micro OLED screens from Sony alongside eight tracking cameras and a Time-of-Flight sensor. It is also said to support hand and eye tracking and may come with some AI features.

As for the launch date, it is expected to be available to developers sometime in October with the product launch slated for March next year.
